I tried several of the fixes as suggested like removing the latest Windows Security update, resetting the Winsock Catalog, uninstalling/reinstalling IE 8, installed latest version of Firefox, etc. Thank a lot. I can surf using the virtual XP machine as long as I want: No hickups at all. also the lower the price of unit brings these problems on.
