When I ran dnx web I got the error which was never there! I then manually bumped the VS version of the csproj back to 14 so I could open the project in VS 2015. Project + Properties, C/C++, Code Generation, Runtime Library. It compiles but it complains about not having the libuv library. Brought a project over to a new to me Mac OS X machine.
