Following these steps should fix the vast majority of Windows boot issues -- at least the ones that are actually fixable. Any other advice would be much appreciated. it was installing pretty quickly when an error came up. A System Restore message may appear that lists the configuration changes that System Restore will make. If you are missing the recovery media, you may have to install another OS. At the Welcome to Setup screen, press R to start the Recovery Console. I put in my Windows xp reinstall cd and it says no file found or something like on the blue screen talking about partions.
